i read an article on christmas day about christmas island. yes it used to be s'pore's but was sold to australia many years back.
the population is kinda small; about 1,400 chinese, 20% malays and the rest are europeans. it's a rural country but with very beautiful beaches and ocean. a paradise for nature lovers. a place you'd wana go after working a the city for some time.
the stuff sold there isnt cheap though(they only accept cash fyi). A$7(S$8.85) for a plate of rice (if im not wrong). BUT if u work as a waitress/waiter there, ur pay'll be like A$30(37.92) an hour! imagine urself working there.. u cld get like a few hundred bucks a day. haha!
there are only two cabs on the island though. so if u wana move arnd, better book a car or something cuz there isnt any public transport. clubs are unheard of over there. a peaceful island indeed! oh yah n it's better to arrange a local tour guide if u wana explore the island cuz u wldnt know where the beautiful nature is hidden.
people there are really kind, as what i've read. they'll lend u their vehicle if u need it. yes lend, not rent. such nice ppl.
how abt christmas island for ur next holiday? (i'd love to go! =))
